ABOUT

The Band

BRASS HOUSE UNIT WAS FOUNDED BY KEVIN ABELA IN OCTOBER 2014. BHU IS A PERFECT MIXTURE OF EXPERIENCED MUSICIANS AS WELL AS FRESH UPCOMING TALENT.

With a vast music repertoire, going back to the best soul sounds from the 60’s up to today’s best pop and radio hits, Brass House Unit caters for all occasions and events. Even though the band is still in its early years Brass House Unit has been kept busy with a number of functions throughout the past two years.

October 2014 saw the band’s first concert named ‘Groovy Tunes’, during which Brass House Unit took the audience through a journey of soul and funk music from the 60’s till the funky music we hear today.

With a jam packed theatre, the band made sure to make all the audience stand up from their chairs and dance through the night.

The BHU’s aim is to look for new challenges and strive to create its own identity through a fresh modern funky sound.

Brass House Unit’s most recent project has been that of recording the new arrangement of the song ‘Not My Soul’ (arranged by Kevin Abela), sung by Destiny Chukuniere; winner of the JESC 2015. Following the recording, they will be performing together with Destiny during her performance at the JESC 2016.

Why Brass House Unit?
Having my own band, was always one of my aspirations.
If you were left on a desert island, who out of all the band members would you keep with you and why?
Having been the one that chose all the members, it’s hard to choose only one of them. However, to answer the question, I would pick Nathan. I have known him since he was much younger and despite the age gap we really get along, both on a personal level as well as musically.
